raffles place randomness

It’s a bit scary how many people you can bump into at Raffles Place… In the span of 10 minutes spent walking around looking for food, I bumped into 4 people from uni. Must make a conscious effort to look nice! And *urgh, wear makeup.

It’s funny how despite the sheer number of people that work in Raffles Place, everyone just manages to allocate themselves to a food place that accommodates them… people seem quite evenly distributed everywhere you go, which is cool!

There’s quite a lot of interesting (and a bit pricey) food around… want to try lavender and orange ice cream at wild hibiscus soon! :)

I realize that there are plenty of places to shop within Raffles Place… They’re not all evident from the exterior of buildings, but within the buildings and in the underpasses, shopping abounds…

Overdue Update!

My first week at internship has been pretty interesting… I’m attached to the commercial auto loans division under the SME team, and while it is called a division it contains one person. heh. He’s sorta my supervisor and he has been super patient with me and bothers to answer my (a lot) of questions about the CAL market. He basically oversees the entire process of SME car loan applications, trying his best to make sure that the applications go through… and this involves daily trips to customers, showrooms and the operations side of the bank. Happily enough, I get to tag along and wow… in 3 days I went with him to the company registrar at Tanjong Pagar, a customer’s place at AMK industrial park, another customer at some far-flung region of Tuas, Dhoby Ghaut to meet the operations people, the Mercedes Benz, Mitsubishi and Toyota showrooms to meet the car sales men. Quite cool… Of course, of course, this cannot be likened to getting tasked to fly to other places in India. :p heh heh. Anyway, back to my supervisor, I really thank God that he is quite amusing, he’s english speaking and he’s nice! He’s going for reservice next week and I’ll have to help cover for him in his absence and he said that if the car salespeople are not nice to me, just tell him and he will vaporise them. vaporise them complete with vaporising sound effect and superhero hand action. Haha…

On the spiritual front, just came back from a weekend camp at East Coast Park… My cell and church supports a Girls’ Brigade company weekly, and we brought the girls for the camp for a time of games and kayaking and sleeping in the tent (amidst heavy rain!!) What was interesting was that a replica of the tabernacle was set up in a field there… showing the outer and inner courts and the holy of holies. The pastor was saying how last time common people can only go to the outer courts, but because of Jesus, we can all have access to the holy of holies and to God! :) The chairperson of Youth with a Mission (YWAM) spoke for service today and again I was touched by how much God loves us, that He who created the whole world made me specially, made me purposefully in His image. The speaker directed us to Song of Songs, which is really love poetry written for us… showing us the extent and passion that God loves us… His love isn’t just a paternal love, it’s a romantic passionate fervent love… What I realise is that relationships in our lives all point to God, if you choose to view them in that light… For example, God loves me in a similar way to how Auntie Em loves me, unconditionally, as a parent loves a child. But He also loves me like how lovers love each other, with excitement, anticipation and a thrill in His heart. It’s so exciting to know that His love encompasses all that and more!! :)
